The actual birth story begins a day before she was born. Monday Sept 28th I went in at Midnight. So actually it was really early Tuesday morning. Dr. Whightsel wanted to start me low dose Pitocin to get me started in a more "natural" fashion. So, Cyndi Green came to the house and picked up Ashley for me. She was excited to get to stay for 2 nights with a friend. Then we took Dirty Joe (the dog) and Cael to grandma Rita's. That was pretty emotional. I have never left him for more than a few hours at a time. Let alone, for a couple days. We went home and finished packing. Then off to the hospital we went. We got there right at midnight and got me admitted and went upstairs. By the time they got me hooked up to the monitors and the pitocin started it was a little after 1 am. They gave me some Ambien to sleep. Bub curled up on the couch and off we went into lala land. I got woke up at about 5am so they could check me and see if I had dialated at all. I had went from a 4 to a 5 so that wasn't so bad. Dr. Whightsel came in at 8am and broke my water. That was a terrible pain. I remember it hurting with Cael. Contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart and lasting about a minute most of the time less though. I continuted to contract and about noon I was really hurting. I had the nurse check me and I was still at a 5 so I decided to get the Epidural. We had a Anestesia in training come and do the Epi but believe it or not she did a very good job. Once that started to work I fell asleep. At about 1:50 the nurse came in and I told her that I thought maybe I needed to push. I really didn't think that it would be possible that I could be dialated but when she checked me I was a 10!!! So she called the Dr and she was getting really nervous that I might deliver before he got there. but a little after 2 he showed up got me all covered up and said, "ok, lets push" so I pushed and he said OK that was awesome I see her head. I totally didn't believe him but I asked bub and he was like He is not lying so the next contraction I pushed hard as heck and he was like OK you need to stop for a second. So I stopped and he said Ok her head is out. So he told me to look down and push again so I looked and watched her come the rest of the way out! That was at 2:10pm It was so amazing. She was just so beautiful to look at. He suctioned her out and layed her on my belly. She was bright eyed and totally alert! She was screaming her head out. bub said that she peed as soon as she came out. Bub cut the cord and they took her to check her over. I was just so proud of myself for pushing her out so quickly. I really didn't feel a thing. I just pushed while they counted to me and concentrated on what I was doing. We had to wait in the room until my Epi wore off. then they wheeled me into my Post partum room. We were greeted by a friend ( Annie) when we got there. Then bubs sisters Brianna and Raelynn came to see us. Bub lef to go get me some lunch. I was starving!!! He came back and just the 3 of us hang out for a little bit. Oh, forgot to add that Bubs mom was there the whole time too and so was Don. I love having people cheer me on. They were not in the room but just knowing they were there was great. At about 8:30 Jess and Amy came to see us. We had a great visit!
This is when the fun began.....
At about 11pm that night I started having terrible contractions. I knew that the afterpains can be more intense with each pregnancy, so I really didn't think much of it. I just kept typing away on my laptop. About a half an hour later they started to really hurt and I just knew that something was not right. I got up to go to the bathroom and felt a huge gush! By the time I sat down on the toilet blood was just pooring out of me. There was a clot the size of my placenta in my (net) panties. I told myself I would never pull the string (you know the one that is next to the toilet in all hospital rooms). But I pulled the cord and in ran a nurse. She massaged my uterus while I was sitting there. She said that my uterus was boggy and it wasn't contracting like it was supposed to and was causing me to bleed out. So, she finally helped me to bed and I thought, whew glad that is over with. Well just about 5 minutes later I started to contract again. Nurse came in and started to massage again. she said that everytime she would get my uterus to contract it would soften up again. At this point blood was just pooring out of me. Everytime she would push it would just flow. I was getting really weak. She decided to call the dr and he ordered some shot that is supposed to get your uterus to contract. that was not working so he ordered another bag of Pit. Not to mention I already had one at the time of delivery. At that point I was like do what ever you need to do to stop the pain. The dr ordered some nubain to go along with the pit so that I could sleep through the night. The nurse came in every once in a while to rub on my tummy. I was completely oblivious to what was going on. The Nubain worked like a charm. At one point the Baby Nurse came in and brought Kinley into me and I was blubbered something like "I can't take care of her right now" I didn't see her again until the next morning. They drew my blood to check my hemoglobin and it was down to 8.5 which is really low. It was 12 somthing when I delivered so it had went down quite a bit. I was still very dizzy and weak but I couldn't wait to see my baby girl. Bub slept through most of the ordeal. I tried to wake him a few times but he was talking nonsence. So I just let him sleep. That was such a scary ordeal. I swear I saw my life flash before my eyes!!!!
